BRATISLAVA, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Slovak International Air Fest (SIAF) 2016 at Sliac in central Slovakia saw a new single-day attendance record on the first day of the two-day show, SIAF spokesman Tomas Kika said on Saturday.

More than 65,000 spectators came to see the first day of the international show taking place each year around the anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising (SNP) of 1944.

"When calculated per one day, the figure is the highest in SIAF's six-year history," said Kika.

The B-52 bomber aircraft is perhaps the biggest attraction of the air show, albeit it's on display only on the ground, along with other some 85 planes.

Meanwhile, dozens aircraft were set to be presented in the air, including a flyover by a fleet of MiG-29 fighter jets of the Slovak Air Force right at the beginning of the show.

"People are particularly interested in the Black Hawk helicopter, which will become part of the Slovak Air Force," said the event director, Hubert Stoksa.

"Also, there's a big interest in a performance of the Russian Su-27 fighter aircraft, the MiG family and their joint flyover, and the Spanish pride Patrulla Aguila," said Stoksa. Enditem
