SUVA, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- A team of New Zealand government officials will arrive later this week to recruit the latest batch of Fijian carpenters for post-quake rebuilding efforts in New Zealand's Christchurch, the Fijian government announced Friday.

Semi Koroilavesau, Fiji's minister for employment, productivity and industrial relations, highlighted that this development reflected the success of the work carried out by the earlier batch of Fijian carpenters.

"Thank you for having confidence in our people and for realizing their potential and skills, which is paramount to the objectives of our employment-creation reform which has contributed significantly to the betterment of each and every worker, their families and Fiji as a whole," Koroilavesau said.

The standard that was set by the earlier batch of Fijian carpenters has given "green light" to employers and the New Zealand government for more recruitment, he added.

The team of New Zealand officials will be in Fiji for a week to conduct assessments and meet with relevant local agencies for the recruitment, said Fiji's Department of Information.

Most of the Christchurch City Council's community facilities were damaged to some degree in the 2010-2011 earthquakes.

The Facilities Rebuild Programme, which is the city council's repair and rebuild programme, began at the end of 2011. All the work is due to be completed by the end of 2018, according to the city council.
