BUCHAREST, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Five Romanians have been confirmed dead in a strong earthquake that rocked central Italy on Wednesday, Romania's Foreign Affairs Ministry announced Thursday.
Meanwhile, at least 18 Romanian nationals are still missing after the earthquake which killed more than 240 people, according to the ministry.
President Klaus Iohannis on Thursday extended condolences to the families of the Romanian nationals who lost their lives following the devastating earthquake.
Currently, more than one million Romanians live in Italy. Enditem
