YANGON, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- At least three people have been killed and six others injured in Wednesday's powerful earthquake that struck central part of Myanmar, according to the updated figures of the Department of Relief and Resettlement Thursday.
The three victims were in Pakokku and Yenanchaung, while the six injured included one foreigner in Mandalay and the others in Pakokku.
The 6.8-magnitude quake, which hit Myanmar at 05:04 p.m. local time Wednesday, also damaged hundreds of pagodas and temples in Bagan-Nyaung Oo.
With an epicenter 197.9 kilometers southwest of Mandalay and 19.3 kilometers west of Chauk, the quake jolted most parts of the country including Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon.
