Indonesian navy finds missing oil tanker

JAKARTA, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- A missing oil tanker carrying 900 kilo liters diesel fuel has been discovered by Indonesian navy in waters off west Borneo Island, navy said here on Thursday.

MT Vier Harmoni tanker operated by PT Vierliness lost contact on Wednesday last week after it was seized by its own crew for a dispute with the management of the company, according to the navy.

"The hunt undertaken by personnel of western naval command finally found MT Vier Harmony which was sailing in the waters of West Borneo," the navy said in a statement.

The navy said that the Malaysian vessel was located on Wednesday and was escorted toward Tanjung Pinang of Riau province in western Indonesia for investigation.

MT Vier Harmoni tanker was reported to be disappeared from a seaport in Kuantan of Malaysia on Tuesday last week, triggering fears of being hijacked.

The navy dispatched a helicopter and ships to search for the tanker, the navy said.

"The hunt was carried out day and night, non-stop, by the navy personnel," it added.
