TOKYO, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks dipped Tuesday morning as the yen's rise against the U.S. dollar coupled with falling prices for crude oil saw investors in a circumspect mood, in contrast to a day earlier when hawkish remarks from the U.S. Federal Reserve underscored buying.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 37.17 points, or 0.22 percent, from Monday to 16,561.02.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 3.55 points, or 0.27 percent, to 1,300.13.

Notable decliners by the morning break comprised iron and steel, oil and coal products, and insurance-linked stocks.
