BERLIN, Aug. 21(Xinhua) -- German interior minister wants to introduce facial identification technology to the surveillance cameras in public transit, local newspaper Bild reported on Sunday.

The interior minister Thomas de Maiziere told the Sunday edition of Bild that the bio-metric software implanted in the monitors at airports and train stations will help deal with the risk of terrorist attacks in the country.

He said the software can identify the people on camera, "once the suspects appear and get recognized, the system will report."

He also stressed air transportation has always been the focus of international terrorism.
