RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Greece's Ekaterini Stefanidi claimed gold in the women's pole vault at the Rio Olympics on Friday, defeating Sandi Morris of the United States.
The 26-year-old was awarded victory on a countback after three failed attempts to clear 4.90m.
New Zealand's Eliza McCartney took bronze with a national record leap of 4.80m.
Defending champion Jennifer Suhr of the US was eliminated after missing three attempts at 4.70m.
