DHAKA, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh recorded a current account surplus of nearly 4 billion U.S. dollars in the last 2015-16 fiscal year (July 2015-June 2016), a central bank official said on Wednesday.
The central bank official who did not like to be named said the current account balance showed the surplus of 3,706 million U.S. dollars during the 2015-16 fiscal year against the surplus of 2,875 million U.S. dollars in the previous fiscal year (July 2014-June 2015).
As both export and remittance maintained a steady growth, the current account balance posted a surplus, meaning Bangladesh's economy absorbed less than what it produced in the last fiscal year, said the official.
The official said overall balance of payments have showed a positive trend.
