RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Two-time world champion Artur Aleksanyan of Armenia lifted the men's Greco-Roman 98kg title Tuesday at the Rio Olympic Games while Davor Stefanek captured the gold medal at 66kg and became Serbia's first-ever Olympic medalist in wrestling.
World number one Aleksanyan defeated Yasmany Daniel Lugo Cabrera of Cuba 3-0.
Aleksanyan used a gut wrench to go up 2-0 in the first period and added a passivity point in the third period to add a gold medal to an Olympic medal collection that already included a bronze from London. He becomes Armenia's second Olympic gold medalist in Greco-Roman wrestling.
Defending champion Ghasem Gholamreza Rezaei of Iran beat Carl Fredrik Stefan Schoen from Sweden to claim a bronze medal and two-time world bronze medalist Cenk Ildem of Turkey, ranked No.6 in the world, posted a 4-0 victory over Alin Alexuc Ciurariu from Romania in the other bronze medal match.
In the 66kg final, Stefanek and Migran Arutyunyan from Armenia each scored a point in the gold-medal match and the 30-year-old Stefanek won on criteria.
In a battle of past world champions, Rasul Chunayev of Azerbaijan picked up an 8-0 technical fall over Ryu Hansu from South Korea for the bronze while world No.10 Shmagi Bolkvadze of Georgia, a 2014 junior world champion, bagged another bronze with a 1-0 win.
Chinese wrestler Xiao Di was stopped before the bronze-medal match as Rezaei eliminated him with a 7-2 victory in the 98kg.
