RABAT, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter IS, Brett McGurk, will visit Morocco on Aug. 15 to discuss the latest developments in the coalition's fight against the terrorist group, local media reported on Thursday.
"Morocco is a strong partner in the global coalition to counter IS and special presidential envoy McGurk will meet with senior officials to provide an update on the campaign and discuss how we are intensifying coalition efforts to degrade and destroy the IS," the source cited a statement by the U.S. State Department.
Recently, Morocco has tightened control of its borders, especially with Algeria, to ward off infiltration of the IS fighters from Libya.
The measure came following the launch of the U.S. airstrikes against the IS militants in Libya and concerns over attempts of its fighters to infiltrate into Morocco.
