Vietnamese players warned of internet security amid Pokemon Go fever

HANOI, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese players have been warned of internet security as reality game Pokemon Go is becoming a fever across the country.

Players may face risks in internet security, including malware attack if they download and install fake Pokemon Go app, Ngo Tuan Anh, vice president for internet security of local Internet security firm Bkav was cited by Vietnam's state-run news agency VNA on Wednesday.

The firm has analyzed several fake Pokemon Go apps and found malware which can control Android system, Anh said.

Besides, playing Pokemon Go at areas where taking photos and filming are not allowed will pose threats to national security as Pokemon Go needs access to mobile phone's GPS and camera, according to Nguyen Chi Thanh, chief of Vietnam Information Security Association.

Officially launched in Vietnam last Saturday, Nintendo Co Ltd's augmented reality game has attracted lots of Vietnamese players, mainly youngsters.

Many articles providing tips in playing Pokemon Go have been introduced on the internet. Various public places in Vietnam, including parks, streets and lakeside, have become favorite sites for players.

A number of people expressed safety concerns, including robbery risks and traffic safety when players glued to their mobile phones at public spaces.
