BEIJING, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Some 28,115 workplace accidents occurred during the first seven months of the year, with 16,059 casualties, China's work safety watchdog said on Tuesday.
These represented year-on-year decreases of 11.6 percent and 8.4 percent, respectively, according to the state administration of work safety website.
The administration warned that extreme weather is likely to have an adverse impact on safety in many industries.
Local authorities should cooperate with meteorological departments, and inform businesses of extreme weather in a timely manner.
