BEIJING, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Four government officials are under investigation for accepting bribes, according to the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) on Monday.

They were Meng Fanyou, former deputy inspector of Chifeng Communist Party of China (CPC) committee, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region; Liu Jinghai, former inspector of the general office of the CPC committee, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region; Lu Wufu, former vice mayor of Changde, Hunan Province; and Pi Lin, former general manager of Hunan Daily Press Group.

Meng and Liu were also accused of corruption, which usually means the illegal possession and use of public funds and property without an intention to repay.

Pi was also accused of embezzling public funds, a lesser charge, which implies there may have been an intention to return the misused funds.

All four have all been arrested, the SPP said.
