YANGON, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- The state-owned Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) will launch its maiden flight between Mandalay and Bangkok on August 31 as an extension of its air route to Bangkok originated from Yangon, official media reported Monday.

The flight aims to facilitate people traveling from northern Myanmar to the Thai capital, said Captain Than Tun, Chief Executive Officer of MNA.

The Yangon-Mandalay-Bangkok flight is set to fly on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Myanmar National Airlines, renamed from Myanmar Airways, ran the flights between Yangon and Bangkok from 1950 until 1993.

After corporatization, the MNA resumed the flights between Yangon and Bangkok in late February this year.
