SYDNEY, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Australia's co-working space and start-up hub Fishburners is expanding internationally and has chosen Shanghai, China as its first stop.
The Shanghai expansion slated to take place sometime this year will be led by Fishburners co-founder Peter Davison and Daniel Shi of China-based 23Seed, Australian media NewsCorp reported on Thursday.
"Everyone you talk to just says how quickly things happen in China. My main surprise is how incredibly quickly it's happened, the space was made available and the right people were there," Fishburners chief executive Murray Hurps said.
"You compare that to Sydney where it's taken over two years to find a new building."
"For us, if you are going after that Chinese market, and you are part of Australia's largest community of highly scalable tech start-ups, it'll be nice to have that community extend, to go into the country and have people there as well," Hurps said.
Hurps said he doesn't want companies leaving Australia, but wants to help Australian companies extend their operations into China with the right resources and connections.
The new Shanghai office will be located at the Caohejing Tech Park, with Fishburners members in Australia being offered free membership if they choose to expand to China.
