Palmeiras agree to sell Gabriel Jesus to Man City

Source: Xinhua   2016-07-30 08:49:47

RIO DE JANEIRO, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Palmeiras have accepted a 32 million-euro offer from Manchester City to sign teenage Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus, according to widespread media reports in Brazil on Friday.

But a contract is not expected to be finalized until after next month's Rio Olympics, in which Gabriel is seen as crucial to Brazil's hopes of winning their first football gold medal.

According to the Globoesporte news portal, Gabriel will not join the Premier League outfit until January, after the current Brazilian season ends.

Gabriel is the top scorer in Brazil's Serie A championship this season with 10 goals from 14 matches.

Other clubs to have reportedly made offers for the 19-year-old include Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

It is understood that a telephone conversation with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola last week convinced Gabriel to opt for a move to the Etihad stadium.
