MACAO, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Macao's strategic location in maritime silk road and its connection to many countries and regions along the "Belt and Road" will help the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) go global, the special administrative region's financial chief said during an international forum on Thursday.

Macao's Secretary for Economy and Finance Leong Vai Tac told the opening ceremony of 2016 China (Macao) Traditional Medicine International Cooperation Forum, which is held here on Thursday and Friday. Over 600 delegates will focus on the issues including TCM oversea development, TCM cooperation along the "Belt and Road", TCM oversea registration and regulation, and other issues.

Deputy Director of State Administration of TCM Ma Jianzhong said that Macao should make the best use of its advantages and actively promote the TCM development along the "Belt and Road."

"Macao should participate in the establishment of overseas TCM centers, showing the charm and vitality of Chinese traditional culture to overseas people, making TCM a bridge to promote the exchange between peoples of China and other countries," Ma added.

The first edition of this forum was held in Macao in 2015. The Macao SAR government has always supported the industrialization and internationalization of TCM, such as initiating Guangdong and Macao TCM Cooperation Industrial Park, helping the World Health Organization set up a Collaborating Center for Traditional Medicine in Macao, and holding traditional medicine workshop for Portuguese-speaking countries.
