JAKARTA, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) ministry filed in budget proposal of 1.2 trillion rupiah (about 91.6 million U.S. dollars) from the 2017 state budget to finance the expansion of renewable energy power generations, particularly solar cell power generators, a senior official at the ESDM ministry said on Thursday.

"The budget proposal was discussed in budgeting directorate general at the financial ministry and has been approved for next year's state budget. Most of the allocation would be used for solar cell energy, because it comprises small-scaled generators and can be completed quickly," Renewable and Energy Conservation Director General at the ESDM Rida Mulyana said.

The swift project completion of solar cell generators was essential as the nation faces urgent need of power supply, particularly in remote areas, said Rida adding that most of the proposed funds would be allocated to subsidize the operation of solar cell power generators.

Indonesia was expected to see the completion of renewable power plant projects at total capacity of 312 MW this year, referring the state power utility's (PLN) power supply plan from 2016 to 2025.
