KIEV, July 26 (Xinhua) -- The profit of the Boryspil International Airport, Ukraine's largest airport, jumped threefold year-on-year in the first half of 2016 to about 26.9 million U.S. dollars, local media reported Tuesday, citing Boryspil's financial report.
"The earnings have tripled mainly due to attracting additional passenger traffic, in particular, the transit traffic," the report said.
According to the document, a total of 3.64 million travellers used the Boryspil airport as a point of departure, destination or stopover in January through June 2016, up 14 percent from the same period a year ago.
In particular, the number of transit passengers at the airport has doubled in the first six months of this year to about 940,000 people, the report said.
In January-June of 2015, Boryspil airport has reported a profit of 8.65 million dollars, its first positive result in the first half of the year since 2012.
Located 20 km southeast of Kiev, Boryspil is the busiest airport in Ukraine, covering about 65 percent of the country's passenger traffic. It provides services to 50 international and domestic airlines operating on about 100 routes. Enditem
