ANKARA, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Two soldiers were killed and four others wounded on Tuesday by the Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) militant attacks, Dogan News Agency reported.

The PKK militants attacked the southeastern Turkish provinces of Diyarbakir and Van targeting the Silvan Dam in the district of Diyarbakir.

Turkish security forces guarding the dam clashed with militants, in which one soldier lost his life while another was injured during the clash.

The PKK militants also resorted to remote-controlled bombs in their attack against a military vehicle in the province of Van in the Edremit district Tuesday, killing one soldier and injuring two others along with a policeman.

Over 500 members from the Turkish security forces and thousands of PKK members have died during armed conflict both in Turkey and northern Iraq since last July.

Over 40,000 lost their lives in clashes with the PKK since 1984, when the group first started its anti-government attacks.

The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union and Turkey. Enditem
