BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Asia-Pacific environment ministers and researchers will gather in Brunei to discuss climate change and sustainable forest management next month.

Brunei will host the Asia-Pacific Rainforest Summit 2016 from August 3 to 5, a local news report Tuesday quoted a statement from Brunei's Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism as saying.

The ministry said the summit will discuss how the region is moving towards inclusive and sustainable forest management, in an era of new climate challenges.

The summit will feature keynote speakers such as Indonesian Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya Bakar, Australia's Environment and Energy Minister Josh Frydenburg, and Mark Burrows, vice-chairman of Investment Banking, Asia-Pacific at Credit Suisse.

The ministry added that the summit will provide a platform to address concerns on climate change and discuss the role of the private sector on conservation of forests and landscapes.

The Asia-Pacific Rainforest Summit 2016 is the second of its kind, following the first in Sydney two years ago, which resulted in the formation of the Asia-Pacific Rainforest Partnership.
