Nguyen Xuan Phuc re-elected Prime Minister of Vietnam

HANOI, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Nguyen Xuan Phuc was re-elected Prime Minister of Vietnam for 2016-2021 tenure on Tuesday in Vietnam's capital Hanoi.

Phuc was re-elected with 98.18 percent of approval by deputies at the ongoing first session of 14th National Assembly in Hanoi on Monday, according to voting results.

Phuc has said that amid various opportunities and challenges during development process, Vietnam will strive to promote its internal strength to become a strong and prosperous country with higher position in international arena.

According to Phuc, with population scale ranking at 14th place in the world, Vietnam's economic size is staying at 48th place while GDP per capita at 133th place in the world.

The country will have to try hard to narrow the development gap with other countries in the world. Development at faster pace is an urgent requirement for Vietnam as the golden population structure is expected to end in ten years, Phuc said.

The country is facing high rate of public debt with huge pressure on debt payment. The government pledges to be responsible with citizens' tax money, use tax money transparently for common interests of the whole nation.

The cabinet chief also committed to increase productivity, investment effectiveness for sustainable development, and not to destroy the environment for development.

Vietnamese Prime Minister will submit to the parliament the appointment of deputy prime ministers, ministers and other cabinet members on Wednesday for discussion. The parliament is scheduled to approve the appointment on Thursday.
