DAMASCUS, July 25 (Xinhua) -- A car bomb went off in the capital Damascus Monday evening, wounding two people, state news agency SANA reported.
According to the official narrative, the car went off in the Kafarsuseh district, leaving two people wounded and property losses.
Meanwhile, sources familiar with the incident as well as the Sham FM radio said the car bomb went off near an Iranian school in that area, near which there is a residential compound for Iranians.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also said the blast hit near the Iranian school, adding that human causalities have for sure occurred, but stopped short of giving further details.
The bombing occurred amid renewed violence in the capital, which witnessed fresh mortar attacks by the rebels on residential areas inside the capital, after nearly four months of pacification.
Six people were wounded Monday by mortar shelling in Damascus, a day after eight people lost their lives when mortar rained down the capital.
