NOUAKCHOTT, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Mauritania's Foreign Minister Isselkou Ould Ahmed Izid Bih has called for intensification of dialogue and adoption of approaches that respond to people's aspirations.

The FM made the call ahead of the Arab League Summit that opened Monday in the country's capital Nouakchott.

He said by hosting the summit under the prevailing circumstances at the regional and international level, Mauritania has demonstrated its desire to effectively play a role in reinforcing inter-Arab relations by maintaining the regularity of meetings and Arab actions.

The 27th Arab League Summit held in Nouakchott between July 25 and 26 will focus on the fight against terrorism, economic development, reinforcement of security and issues of Syria and Palestine.

The minister said the Nouakchott summit will represent a new platform for launching Arab action based on cooperation and dialogue to address the crises facing the Arab world, with priority given to elimination of multinational violence in the region.

The minister also called for reinforcement of cooperation with regional and international organizations, enhancement of inter-Arab relations and closely working with countries neighbouring the Arab world, especially African nations.
