VLADIVOSTOK, Russia, July 25 (Xinhua) -- A rare species of Amur leopard was knocked down by a car in Russia's Primorsky region on Sunday, an official of a Russian national park said Sunday.
The driver left the scene after hitting the leopard. Inspectors of the Land of the Leopard national park found blood traces of the animal on the pavement, but the condition of the leopard is unknown as it hasn't been found yet, said Ivan Rakov, press head of the park.
The Amur leopard is extremely precious as its population is less than 60 worldwide, most of them live in Russia's Far East.
