MOMBASA, Kenya, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's anti-terrorism police officers on Thursday killed two most wanted terror suspects in the coastal city of Mombasa.

The two were gunned down after a team of anti-terrorism police raided their house where they were allegedly plotting terrorist attack in the coastal region.

The security officers recovered three hand grenades, 17 rounds of ammunition, two detonators, mobile phones from the house.

Kisauni police commander Walter Abondo said police are still pursuing the third suspect identified as Ismael Soshi who escaped and is believed to be armed and dangerous.

"Soshi is among most wanted terror suspects in our radar and we suspect he has escaped during the operation," Abondo said.

The police suspected that the gang had targeted key installations including shopping mall for attacks before their plans were thwarted.

The authorities also suspected that the two were also part of the gang that escaped from a house in a residential estate in Mombasa where weapons were also seized on January 5.

The security officers have intensified security in the coastal city to deal with terrorist threats posed by the Al-Shabaab terrorist group.
