LISBON, July 19 (Xinhua) -- The Portuguese police have issued a warning to gamers of Pokemon Go, a popular smartphone game, which consists of catching digital characters at real-life locations.
In a manual released on Tuesday, police reminded players to remember that they are still in the "real world."
Police asked players of the game to become aware of their surroundings, not to catch pokemons alone, not to use the application while driving, not to enter restricted areas or private property. They also alerted youth not to interact with strangers and taking special care with apps related to the game so as to avoid malware.
Police officers in Britain, the United States and Australia have already warned the risks of the game, after controversy for lack of data privacy and crime. Four armed robbers were recently charged in Missouri for using the game to lure players into a secluded area.
Pokemon Go was introduced in Portugal on July 15 and Google Play has already registered over 1 million downloads in Portugal. Enditem
