YANGON, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Flora and Fauna International (FFI), a non-governmental organization, is planning a survey to establish a marine conservation area in Myanmar's western Rakhine coast run by local people, official media reported Monday.

The organization will survey on the conditions of coral reef, fish breeding zones, the habitats of native birds as well as the state of mangrove, which have been recognized by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN).

FFI will support the funding for that project and after two years' survey, it will choose some villages to take part in its marine conservation program, the report said.

Currently, FFI, in cooperation with the Fishery Department, is developing a marine conservation area in Taninthayi region which is located in southern part of the country and the organization has already done similar survey alongside of Myeik Archipelago area since 2012.
