YANGON, July 16 (Xinhua) -- A total of 55 ethnic armed groups will attend the summit of ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) to be held in Maijayan in Kachin state, northern Myanmar, from July 26 to 29, official media reported Saturday.
After the summit, the EAOs stance will be discussed at the conference of ethnic parties.
EAOs are non-signatories to the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA), according to U Saw Than Myint, secretary of the Shan Nationalities Democratic Party.
At present, preparations are being made for EAOs to attend the summit which will mainly focus on the installment of a federal system in Myanmar.
Prior to the summit, State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi will convene a meeting with leaders of the United Nationalities Federal Council (UNFC) in Yangon on Sunday.
