ANKARA, July 16 (Xinhua) -- The death toll in the military coup attempt in Turkey has risen to 90, with 1,154 wounded, the state-run news agency Anadolu reported on Saturday.
At least 700 unarmed soldiers at the Turkish military headquarters have surrendered, the report said.
Meanwhile, a total of 1,563 military officers have been detained throughout Turkey, a government official told journalists.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Saturday morning that the government is in charge and he is in power, after the country is smarting from the coup attempt overnight.
