LIMA, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Peruvian President-elect Pedro Pablo Kuczynski unveiled his Cabinet on Friday, two week's before inauguration.
Kuczynski said his Cabinet showed high levels of professionalism. "Each of them has extensive public management experience as ministers or high officials in ministries," he said.
Career diplomat Ricardo Luna, a former ambassador to the United States and the United Nations, will be new foreign minister.
Alfredo Thorne, an economist who ran Kuczynski's presidential campaign and used to be a chief economist for the World Bank and managing director of JPMorgan Chase, will be the finance minister.
The only minister to remain in his position from the previous government is Education Minister Jaime Saavedra.
"This is a team with the capacity for dialogue and agreement and commitment to Peru," said Kuczynski's incoming Prime Minister Fernando Zavala, a 45-year-old former finance minister who most recently served as general manager of Peru's largest brewery Backus and Johnston.
Zavala, whom Kuczynski announced as his pick for prime minister on Sunday, said the team would work to meet demands for safer streets, more jobs and less corruption.
Kuczynski said that every member of his Cabinet would work hard to meet the high expectations he has set.
Since winning the presidential election, Kuczynski has pledged to focus on reducing crime and corruption, promoting economic growth, securing new foreign investments and boosting infrastructure projects so as to modernize the country.
However, Kuczynski will have to deal with a potentially hostile Congress, where his former presidential rival, Keiko Fujimori, commands an absolute majority.
