PARIS, July 15 (Xinhua) -- INTERPOL Secretary General Jurgen Stock strongly condemned the horrific terrist attack in Nice, INTERPOL said Friday in a statement, adding that it will send experts to surpport the investigation.
"An INTERPOL Incident Response Team (IRT) is being deployed to Nice to provide on-site support to the investigation into the attack, in which at least 84 people were killed," INTERPOL said.
"With foreign nationals amongst the victims, the team includes Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) expertise to assist with the global coordination of ante-mortem or AM data collection to help with the identification process," it added.
Terrorism and information specialists are also included in INTERPOL's team to carry out real-time checks against INTERPOL's global databases.
"On behalf of the world police community, INTERPOL condemns this cowardly and horrific attack in the strongest terms," said its Secretary General Jurgen Stock.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victims not just of this attack, but with all those who have lost loved ones to terrorism around the world," concluded Stock.
Thursday night, a truck drove at hight speed into a crowd who had gathered along the promenade in Nice to watch fireworks marking the French national day. At least 84 peole have been killed.
