BEIJING, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi will visit the city of Ulyanovsk in Russia's Volga region for a meeting next Monday to Wednesday.
The regional cooperation council meeting, between regions along the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River in China and the Volga River in Russia, is the first of its kind, according to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang.
Yang's attendance is at the invitation of Mikhail Babich, Russia's presidential envoy to the Volga Federal District, said Lu.
A forum on cooperation between regions along the Yangtze River in China and the Volga River in Russia has been held in previous years.
