SOFIA, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Bulgarians remain strong supporters of the European Union (EU) after the Brexit referendum result, according to a Gallup International survey released here on Thursday.

The nationwide survey conducted in the first week of July, showed that if there was a referendum on Bulgaria's membership of the EU, 61 percent of residents would vote to stay, 20 percent would vote for exit and 19 percent would be undecided.

If the data were calculated only among potential participants in the referendum, the support for country's EU membership would reach 75 percent, or 7 percent less than at the end of 2015, the agency said.

Meanwhile, 51 percent of those surveyed said at the beginning of July that Brexit would affect the lives of Bulgarians.
