HANOI, July 13 (Xinhua) -- The service of 4G network is expected to be licensed in Vietnam by the end of the third quarter or the beginning of the fourth quarter in 2016, according to Vietnam's Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) on Wednesday.
Minister of the MIC Truong Minh Tuan has required 4G testing operators to urgently evaluate testing results, assess the quality of services, the problem of interference, and licensing records, among others.
Based on the assessment, MIC will license at the earliest available time to create conditions for equal competition, the website of MIC quoted the minister as saying.
The 4G service is under testing in Vietnam.
In the first half of 2016, the revenue of Vietnam's telecom is estimated at some 93.5 trillion Vietnamese dong (nearly 4.2 billion U.S. dollars), said the ministry.
By the end of June, the number of 2G subscribers was about 84 million and 3G subscribers was 38 million. The number of broadband internet subscribers reached more than 8.5 million.
