KHOST, Afghanistan, July 11 (Xinhua) -- At least six people including five students and a teacher were injured as an explosive device ripped through a classroom in the eastern Khost province on Monday, Interior Ministry said in a statement released here.
"A mine planted by terrorists in a classroom of a school in Khost province today injured six people including five pupils and a teacher," the statement said.
Without giving more details, the statement blamed the enemies of Afghanistan, a reference to the Taliban and condemned the attack as a coward terrorist act.
Head of education department, Khost province also confirmed the incident, saying the terrorists planted the mine probably late last night in a classroom, injuring five students Monday morning.
Meanwhile, police chief of Khost province, Faizullah Ghirat, said efforts are under way to identify and bring to justice all those behind the heinous crime.
