ANKARA, July 10 (Xinhua) -- At least eight Islamic State (IS) militants were killed in northern Syria on Saturday during military operations carried out by Turkish army and the U.S.-led anti-IS coalition, security sources told Turkish state-run Anadolu Agency on Sunday.
At least 10 IS targets, including weapon emplacements, Katyusha rockets and mortars which were reportedly preparing to attack Turkey, had been hit in airstrikes and shelling on Saturday, and at least eight IS militants were killed, the report said.
Turkey is set to enhance border security in southeastern provinces, as rocket attacks from IS-held regions across the border in northern Syria have killed over 21 people in Kilis province this year.
