BUCHAREST, July 9 (Xinhua) -- The Romanian Foreign Ministry on Saturday asked British authorities to prevent hostile acts towards its citizens, after a Romanian food shop was petrol bombed on Friday night in Norwich, East Anglia.
"The Foreign Ministry condemns any form of extremist or discriminatory manifestation towards Romanian citizens," the ministry stressed in a press release on Saturday, requesting the British authorities to "clarify the situation and prevent any intensification of tensions or any other hostile acts towards Romanian citizens in the United Kingdom."
"The Village Shop" belonging to a Romanian family in Norwich was torched at around 2.30 a.m. local time on Friday, after a brick was thrown through the window at the shop, which sells mainly Eastern European products.
Local Police have not ruled out a racial motivation behind the move. Enditem
