TEHRAN, July 8 (Xinhua) -- A fire which broke out in the Bou Ali Sina Petrochemical Plant in southwest Iran on Wednesday is still ravaging the complex, local media reported on Friday.

The blaze in the large petrochemical complex in Iran's Bandar Imam Khomeini, the Persian Gulf littoral port, has been caused by technical failure, Iran's Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said on Friday, according to official IRNA news agency.

No act of sabotage is likely in the incident, Zanganeh was quoted as saying.

A highly flammable chemical leakage was possibly the cause, local reports said.

No casualties have been reported so far.

On Friday, Zanganeh denied some media reports that local officials have started evacuation of residents in Bandar Imam Khomeini.

Bou Ali Sina Petrochemical Plant, owned by Iran's National Petrochemical Company, produces 1.75 million tons of aromatics and by-products per year. Enditem
