WARSAW, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Poland has temporary restored border controls since Monday, as one of the security precautions preceding the upcoming NATO Summit here.
A series of precautions include also closing part of streets in Warsaw and mobilizing all of the relevant services.
Temporary border controls have been restored on Poland's borders with its neighboring EU countries, while small border traffic on borders with Russia and Ukraine has been temporarily cancelled. Mobile border checkpoints, visa, passport, and documents control are to be increased.
A new anti-terrorism law entered into force on Saturday under which, in the event of a terrorist threat, holding mass events and gatherings could be forbidden.
The city of Warsaw itself will become a well-guarded fortress during the summit, which takes place July 8 and 9.
The National Stadium where the leaders are to meet has been closed to the public, as well as some major streets. Air space will be closed to small planes within 100 km from the city air space, while large airplanes will have to avoid flying over the center of the city.
Apart from the NATO summit, which will host more than 58 delegations from around the world, another large-scale event, the World Youth Day celebrations, are to be held in Poland this month between July 26 and 31. Up to two million people are estimated to take part.
The temporary border controls are to be in place until Aug. 8. Enditem
