China appoints new Jiangsu Party chief

BEIJING, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Li Qiang has been appointed secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), replacing Luo Zhijun, according to an official statement released on Thursday.

Li has also replaced Luo as a member of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and its Standing Committee, according to the statement, citing a decision made by the CPC Central Committee.
