Heavy rain to continue in parts of China

Source: Xinhua   2016-06-30 14:51:31

BEIJING, June 30 (Xinhua) -- China's national observatory on Thursday issued a yellow alert for storms as heavy rain is set to continue across the country.

Parts of Anhui, Chongqing, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, and Jiangsu will see rain of up to 180 millimeters in the coming 24 hours, the National Meteorological Center forecast.

Thunderstorm or hailstones will hit some parts of Liaoning Province and Tibet Autonomous Region.

The observatory warned of risks of geological disasters in the areas, suggesting people to reduce outdoor activities and take precautions against possible flash floods, mud-rock flows and landslides.

China has a four-tier color-coded system for severe weather, with red being the most serious, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
