VIENTIANE, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Laos is to build rice stockpile warehouses across the country in the coming months, local daily KPL reported Thursday.
Laos has an ambitious plan to build warehouses for state rice stockpiles in the central, southern and northern part of Laos in response to the agricultural infrastructure development plan, KPL quoted a senior official as saying.
The rice stockpiles will be built in Xekong Province, some 530 km southeast of Vientiane by aerial distance, Xieng Khuang Province, some 180 km northeast of Vientiane, and Vientiane. The total cost of the warehouses is estimated to be over 188 billion kip (over 23 million U.S. dollars).
The construction is expected to begin in the next two or three months.
Other facilities will be also built inside the warehouses such as weighing stations, dormitories and offices.
