PRAGUE, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Czech police has strengthened security measures at airports in the wake of an attack at an airport in Istanbul that killed at least 41 people, Czech Police Presidium spokeswoman Marketa Janovska announced on Wednesday.
Police in the Czech Republic also stepped up security measures at the Turkish Embassy and the residence of the Turkish ambassador and their surroundings in Prague, according to the spokeswoman.
Police will pay special attention to Vaclav Havel airport in Prague and international airports in Brno and Ostrava. The police increased the number of patrolling police officers, including dog handlers and specialists to search for explosives. Police will also focus more on flights bound to and from Istanbul.
At least 41 people were killed and more than 200 others injured in explosions that hit Ataturk Airport in Istanbul on Tuesday.
Czech Police President Tomas Tuhy said more police actions will be taken in and around the airports. Police will continue to monitor security situation and its developments in Turkey, and will alter the level of security measures in the Czech Republic based on the latest information.
Czech Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek warned against Czech citizen travelling to some parts of Turkey, such as Ankara and the southeastern part of the country bordering Syria.
Zaoralek said the latest terrorist attack showed that Istanbul was dangerous as well. Several attacks have recently occurred in Istanbul and the threat for those who staying in the city increased.
Czech citizens in Istanbul should respect all security measures introduced there, he added. Enditem
