Afghanistan condemns Istanbul bombings

KABUL, June 29 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan government on Wednesday strongly condemned attacks at the Istanbul airport that reportedly killed 36 and injured many others.

"We strongly condemn the heinous attack at Attaturk Airport in Istanbul. Our thoughts are with all those affected people and government of Turkey," Arg, the country's Presidential Palace, said on its twitter account.

On Tuesday night local time, suicide bombers opened fire at random at the airport and then blew their suicide jackets up, leaving at least 36 dead and many more injured.

Afghan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah has also condemned the incident.

While expressing solidarity with the people of Turkey, Abdullah said in a statement that "Afghanistan stands with Turkey and asks for well measured collective efforts on global scale against terrorism."

The Afghan chief executive also extended his heartfelt condolences for the government and people of Turkey on the loss of precious lives.
