VIENNA, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Austria will postpone border control at the Brenner Pass on its border with Italy, because currently there is no big influx of migrants, Austria Press Agency reported, citing Austrian Interior Minister.

At present there are only zero to eight apprehensions of illegal migrants each day, meaning there is no need for the implementation of the controversial border controls, Wolfgang Sobotka said after a meeting with his Italian counterpart Angelino Alfano here on Friday.

Sobotka said migrants apprehended on their way through the Brenner Pass were taken to reception centers.

Sobotka noted the cooperation between the two neighbouring states was a positive sign.

In light of Britain's exit vote from the European Union, the minister called for speedy further development of Europe's immigration policies, including those over reception centers, resettlement programs, and the repatriation of denied asylum seekers to their respective countries of origin.
