BUDAPEST, June 23 (Xinhua) -- If Britain exits the European Union, Hungary's economic growth could decline by 0.3 percent and its trade turnover could drop by 4-4.5 billion euros (about 4.5-5 billion U.S. dollars), Hungarian National Economy Minister Mihaly Varga said here on Thursday, cited by Hungarian News Agency MTI.

Nonetheless, every single nation is sovereign and has the right to decide on the framework under which it operates, Varga said, adding that Hungary would fully respect the decision of the British voters, whatever the outcome.

Still, said Varga, Hungary would prefer to see UK remain in the EU.

A British referendum is currently underway on whether to remain in the European Union or leave it. Britain is the second largest economy in the EU.
