Vietnam sees trade surplus of 1.36 bln USD as of mid-June: Customs

HANOI, June 23 (Xinhua) -- From the beginning of 2016 to June 15, Vietnam saw a trade surplus of some 1.36 billion U.S. dollars, according to Vietnam Customs on Thursday.

According to a report on Vietnam Customs' website, as of mid-June, Vietnam earned nearly 74.45 billion U.S. dollars from exports, up 5.8 percent year-on-year.

Meanwhile, the country spent around 73.09 billion U.S. dollars on imports, down 1.7 percent year-on-year, said the report.

As of mid-June, Vietnam's foreign trade totaled at 147.54 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 2 percent. The national balance of trade thus saw a surplus of 1.36 billion U.S. dollars, said Vietnam Customs.

Among the figures, foreign invested sectors posted over 52.04 billion U.S. dollars in export revenue, and roughly 42.94 billion U.S. dollars in import turnover.
