ACCRA, June 22 (Xinhua) -- The 2016 Water Africa and West Africa Building and Construction exhibition kicked off in Accra on Wednesday.
The three-day exhibition is aimed at creating a two-way flow of information for visitors and participants.
This will help the exhibitors to analyze their sector needs and set in place necessary steps for business expansion and improvement.
Over 70 exhibitors from 19 countries, including five from China, are taking part in the show.
Some of the Chinese exhibitors deal in pipes and filters while the rest are involved in export and import of water and construction facilities.
Alex Li from Sego International Exhibitions, who organized the Chinese team, believed the exhibition would help to promote their products in the Ghanaian and the West African sub-regional markets.
"We have already cooperated with this event for around six years and every year we take many Chinese exhibitors here," he told Xinhua.
Lily Zeng, from the Hangzhou Bluesteel Machine Company, a supplier of roofing materials, thinks there is a good market for their products in Ghana.
"We think the response is not so bad, it is good. We expect some results from customers in the coming days," she said.
Another Chinese exhibitor, Ada, who represents Hydrotek Company Limited, said her outfit will reach more clients in the sub-region through Ghana.
"We want to introduce our products to the clients here because I think Ghana has a very big market for water treatment. I think the response has been very good and I hope we have chances to cooperate more with local clients," she told Xinhua.
Opening the fair earlier on, Ghana's Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Dr Kwaku Agyemang-Mensah, called on participants to use the platform to find solutions to address the effects of climate change in water supply and housing delivery in the West African nation.
"I also urge participants of this program to come with innovative ideas to improve the delivery of housing that will be affordable to the middle and lower income brackets," he said.
